Installation

Railcut is distributed as a .zxp file — a standard CEP extension package for Adobe applications.

Download the latest Railcut .zxp file from your Lemon Squeezy account. You’ll find the latest .zxp and your license key there.

ZXP files can’t be opened by double-clicking. You need an installer utility.

Section titled “Option A: AeScripts ZXP/UXP Installer (recommended)”

ZXP/UXP Installer from aescripts.com is a free, widely-used installer that handles both ZXP and UXP extensions. Download and install it, then drag your .zxp onto the app window or open it through the file menu.

ZXPInstaller is another free option. Download it, then drag and drop your .zxp file onto the app window to install.

Step 3 — Open the panel in After Effects

Section titled “Step 3 — Open the panel in After Effects”
  1. Launch After Effects (restart it if it was already open)
  2. Go to Window → Extensions → Railcut

The Railcut panel will open. Dock it to the bottom of the workspace to give you a similar layout to a NLE.

Railcut requires a valid license to use. On first launch, Railcut will prompt you to paste your license key. Enter it and click Activate — Railcut checks the key online and activates this device. Your license can be active on any two machines at once.

Each license allows a 2 active devices at once. To free up a slot from your current machine before moving to a new one:

  1. Open Settings → License
  2. Click Deactivate This Device
  3. Confirm the deactivation

After deactivation, your license key is available to activate on another machine. You can also deactivate licenses in your Lemon Squeezy account.
